Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) is a dynamic sport performed across four apparatus: Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor. WAG helps develop a high level of flexibility, strength, fitness and dance while promoting an active lifestyle and fostering a sense of community within their squad and wider club.
Our program starts in our WAG Foundation class where athletes train skills in Levels 1 and 2 of the Australia Levels Program. They compete at the South Australian Levels 1 and 2 State Challenge in the second half of the year with the potential for club based competitions in the lead up.
Our higher levels WAG program is split into four Squads – Silver, White, Black and Red. These squads train Levels 3 and up and compete at multiple state based and country competitions across the year. Our athletes in Level 6 and higher are eligible for State Team selection for the Australian Gymnastics Championships, Boarder Challenge and The Bigham Cup.
The focus at Blackwood Gymsports is to nurture each individual child’s love for gymnastics. We promote a welcoming, supportive and inclusive training environment where athletes can develop and achieve their personal best. Our philosophy is in seeing athletes flourish and enjoy the sport rather than winning medals.
All WAG squads require a trial to join. To organise a trial for your child or for more information please contact our GymSports Coordinator at cat@blackwoodrec.com.au.
