Functional Fitness for 50+

Our programs are tailored to individual specific needs. A personalised program is created for each participant, with training sessions held in a group environment.

A typical class starts with a fun and simple group warm up. Next you spend approximately half an hour on your strength program. (Including both pin loaded machines and free weights). We finish together with a cool down and a series of stretches.

We recommend that you undertake strength training two or three times per week.

Anyone over the age of 50 years can join.

Our programs are tailored to individual specific needs and can be modified if necessary.

We offer a safe supportive environment within our private air conditioned studio.

You are welcome to come along and observe any of our sessions.

The strength for life program will:

  • Make daily tasks easier
  • Improve your flexibility, vitality and general wellbeing
  • Develop and maintain muscle mass, endurance, and strength
  • Give you the opportunity to make new friends and have fun!

Strength training is crucial for healthy aging. It can help combat some age-related disease, improve physical ability/function and cognitive health, enabling you to be able to do what you love for longer!

The aim of our Strength for Life Program is to keep independent and active for as long as possible! Through specialised exercise programs that cater to you individual needs, our instructors will help you improve your strength, balance and confidence!

Our Strength for Life program extends well beyond the physical benefits of the gym. Our Strength for Life cohort is all about community. Participants are encouraged to stay after class for a free tea or coffee and a chat, encouraging socialization and connections to be formed within the community.

Strength for Life makes the gym about more than just fitness!

Where to start?

3 easy steps to get involved:

  1. Phone or drop into the Blackwood Recreation Centre to receive your Enrolment Pack.
  2. Complete the forms in the Enrolment Pack and obtain your G.P.’s clearance.
  3. Once you have received the go ahead, you may book an assessment with one of our qualified instructors, where they will discuss your goals and personal strength program.

Please wear comfortable clothing and supportive footwear for your assessment and classes.

Pricing

$100 for a 10 x Visit Pass

One off $45 payment, for an assessment and personal exercise program.
