2025 Annual General Meeting Notice
In accordance with Section 14.3 of the Blackwood Recreation Centre Constitution, the Blackwood Community Recreation Association Incorporated (BCRAI) advises that the 2025 Annual General Meeting will be held on:

As several Board terms conclude this year, BCRAI is seeking to appoint up to five new Board Members to join our Board of Management. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about community sport, recreation, and strengthening local organisations to contribute their skills and help shape the future of the Centre.
An Exciting Time for the Organisation
BCRAI is entering an important new phase. Significant progress has been made toward securing a new lease for the Centre, and the organisation has committed to strengthening and modernising its governance framework, a process that is currently underway.
As we move forward, we are looking for motivated individuals who can bring fresh perspectives, professional expertise, and a commitment to community outcomes.
Skills and Experience Sought
We welcome applications from individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising and sponsorship development
- Marketing and communications
- Legal expertise
- Governance and stakeholder relations
- Sport and recreation management
Applicants with prior board or governance experience will be highly regarded.
Experience
The Board is seeking individuals who ideally have:
- At least two years’ experience in a leadership role within their professional field
- An understanding of governance or board environments
- A strong interest in community sport, recreation and participation
Individuals with a background in community sport or volunteer organisations are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the Role
The Board of Management is responsible for the governance, strategic direction and sustainability of BCRAI. This is a voluntary Board position.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting strategic priorities and organisational goals
- Approving budgets and major capital expenditure
- Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Supporting the financial sustainability of the organisation
- Appointing and overseeing the performance of the Centre Manager
The Board currently meets monthly for approximately two hours at the Centre, with occasional sub-committee meetings as required. Board members are expected to actively participate in meetings and contribute to the organisation’s governance and development.
Nomination Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a voting member of the Association (instructions on how to become a member are included at the end of this document)*
Nominations must include:
- A written nomination submitted to the Centre Manager
- A one-page introduction outlining:
- Your interest in the role
- The experience and skills you would bring
- Other Board positions held
- Current involvement in community sport (if applicable)
- A current CV outlining relevant professional and industry experience
- A completed “Nomination for Management Committee” form

All nomination materials must be submitted no later than 20 days prior to the AGM.

To be eligible, you need to do the following:
- Collect an application form from reception or by emailing steve@blackwoodrec.com.au
- Submit the form including why you want to become a voting member.
- Once the form has been submitted, you will be contacted to let you know you have been accepted as a voting member.
- Pay the $10 Membership fee
